Visit to Seaquarium

Long time bird breeder videos Macaw mating ritual.

Photo of Macaws while mating
I've breed birds, Zebra Finches for years and only saw an event like this only once before and very fleetingly.
One of my finches. He's eight years old!

A recent visit to the Miami Seaquarium yielded unique video of a breeding pair of macaws matting.

What luck!
Two Giant macaws, chained on the same perch, decided to mate openly. Right in front of me. It was refreshingly overcast at the Miami Seaquarium (I'm from Texas now). A light rain fell all day, intermittently. It was rather late in a warm humid summer afternoon.

Some photos from same visit:

Lolita
Of course no visit would be complete without seeing Lolita the killer whale and her friends.

Butterfly World

Later, a visit to Butterfly World would yield amazing videos and photos as well. The Butterflies below appear in the video above.

All the Butterfliess above are half male, half female. This has occurred at this South Florida breeding institute only eight times in 1,500,000 papae.
