Bornstein gets lucky! Takes a Rio photograph of a life time.

I got lucky and took one of my best photos ever, a truly great photograph of Rio.
Everyone in Rio commented on this photo. Even our tour guide had never seen a shot like this. This photo shows Rio from Corcovado Mountain with its own shadow clearly visible on the water.
Here's some great music to listen to while reading this blog post. This is Martinho de Vila and his great 1974 hits that was all the rage when I was here in 1976. These songs actually helped me learn Portuguese.

On July 5th, 2013, we decided to take one of those city tours that included CORCOVADO and downtown. The bus met us at a nearby hotel and arrived about 45 minutes late.
Waiting for the tour bus in front of Ibiza Hotel near our place.
Carmencita, Gabby and I.
It was a late Friday afternoon and the traffic was terrible. We finally arrived at the peak of Corcavado mountain very late in the day. It turned out to be really very lucky. Like a Mayan temple at solstice, the sun only tracks that low in the sky a short period each year.
Typical photo taken from Corcovado.
I noticed that the shadow was starting to move up.
Moving more.
Moving still more. I wait patiently.

Finally the shot of a lifetime.
Me and the shot of a lifetime.

The Christ sculpture. Cristo Redentor in Portuguese.

Our guide and everyone I show it to say the same thing, "They've never seen a photo like it". The mountain and the Christ sculpture is clearly reflected in the water.

Another view
Afterwards we visited the metropolitan cathedral and a recently constructed staircase with thousand of artistically created ceramic tiles. We finished by going to a restaurant in Ipanema.
Interior of cathedral.

Exterior, huge and lifeless..

In the center of the city.

Spire and offices.

Stairs.
